Pakistan International Airlines occupied the top position in 2002 with ratio of Pretax Profit to Net Worth of 370.33 per cent. Salfy Textile Mills Limited second position in 2002 with ratio of Pretax Profit to Networth of 241.66 per cent. Unilever Pakistan Limited slipped third position from second position last year with ratio of Pretax Profit to Net Worth of 236.37 per cent. Island Textile Mills Limited achieved fourth position in 2002 with ratio of Pretax Profit to Net Worth of 183.24 per cent. Hilal Flour & Gen. Mills Limited slipped fifth position from third position last year in 2001 with ratio of Pretax Profit to Net Worth of 110.64 per cent. Attock Refinery Limited achieved remarkable seventh position from eightieth last year with ratio of Pretax Profit to Net Worth 99.06 per cent.

The number of companies in different sector is given in table:

It is evident that the largest number of companies (26) fell in the category of Textile, followed by Chemical and Pharmaceutical (14), Investment Companies and Banks (13), Fuel and Energy (9), Auto & Allied and Food & Allied (6 each), Paper & Board (4), Synthetic and Rayon, Sugar and Allied and Engineering (3 each).

Percentage-wise, Chemical and Pharmaceutical topped the list with 41 per cent of companies having because Pretax Profit to Net Worth, followed by Auto & Allied (38 per cent), Fuel and Energy (36 per cent), Investment Companies and Banks (34 per cent), Paper & Board (33 per cent), Engineering (30 per cent), Synthetic and Rayon (17 per cent), Textile (15 per cent), Sugar and Allied (9 per cent) and Food and Allied (7 per cent).
